I have been training with ProtectInvest at the USC in Amsterdam on & off since May - less often than I would like as I have been traveling a lot this past summer. In November I went to Kansas City in the US to visit family & before I left I was wondering what to do for training during the two weeks I was there. When I mentioned to Natasja, one of the ProtectInvest Instructors, that I wasn't going to be able to train because I was traveling, she suggested I look at the links on the club's website for a an affiliated school. Even better, as a member of the school in Amsterdam, I was able to train for two weeks for free at affiliated schools so long as I took my card with me. Looking through the links on the website I found Krav Maga Worldwide has an extensive network of branches & happily I was able to locate one not too far from where I was staying - Krav Maga & Fitness Centre Kansas City.
Before I left I contacted Steve who runs KMFC-KC & a couple of days later he replied saying I would be welcome & which classes I should look at. They had a very well thought out training schedule & I managed to do four training sessions whilst I was there. Steve & his instructors were very welcoming & capable martial artists. During the classes, I recognised the root of the fighting system techniques from the training we did in Amsterdam but as with all fighting arts, the Instructors bought their own background & teaching styles with them. This familiarity, but with a twist of local flavour, made for a very enjoyable stay & I look forward to repeating the experience somewhere else when I next get the chance.
